Natural Fillings
Working with our filling suppliers Rawsons FIllings and Enkev we use only the finest fillings within our mattresses, depending on the specification chosen, these can include;
Orangic Cotton;
Almost pure cellulose, cotton is the world’s most widely used natural fibre. The main reasons for this are it’s softness and breathability. Cotton absorbs moisture readily which makes cotton comfortable in hot weather.
The Cotton used in our mattresses is GOTS certified. The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibres, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain.
Wool/Cashmere/Silk Blend
Wool is one of the widest used and most versatile of all the natural fibre family it is a 100% natural, renewable and biodegradable product which is breathable and controls humidity. Wool keeps you cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
Cashmere is a luxuriant wool that many a fashion-conscious woman has dreamed of wearing against her skin. Its silken feel, feather-light weight, and appreciable status make it highly desirable. Cashmere is the wool or fur of the Kashmir goat. Kashmir goats are primarily raised in Mongolia, but many are bred in Iran, Tibet, India and China.
For centuries, silk has had a reputation as a luxurious and sensuous fabric that is associated with wealth and success. Silk is one of the oldest fibres known to man. The Chinese have used it since the 27th century BC. Silk is mentioned by Aristotle and became a valuable commodity both in Greece and Rome. In the Roman Empire, silk was literally worth its weight in gold. The unique production process adds to the mystery and exclusiveness of the fabric.
Alpaca
Alpaca is one of the new breed of exotic fibres offering the very best in comfort, feel and performance. As an animal fibre Alpaca offers unique properties which make it an ideal material for use in high quality sleep solutions. Free of lanolin, Alpaca is hypoallergenic and excellent for people with sensitive skin. The profile of Alpaca means that it is un-barbed which helps produce a beautiful soft feel to the skin but importantly will help with a construction to reduce the possibility of fibre migration. Alpacas are smaller than a llama, are bred in mountainous territories and unlike many others are bred solely for the fleece and not for meat.
Springs
Depending on your preference we offer the following types of mattress spring unit.
Bonnell Spring Unit;
The Bonnell Spring Unit is still the most common type of spring unit in the UK. Made from 13.5 gauge wire each spring is secured to the next with a helical wire.
Our Bonnell Spring Units are manufactured in Glasgow by our experienced spring maker Jim. By manufacturing this spring unit ourselves it gives us the flexibility of offering quick turnaround on any size or shaped mattress.
All the steel used to create our Bonnell Spring Units is purchased from UK steel manufacturers.
Pocket Spring Unit
Pocket springs are highly responsive to even the smallest changes in weight distribution, body shape, and sleeping patterns, providing support where it’s needed most without compromising on comfort! From 1000 through to 5000 count Pocket Spring Units we have the right Pocket Spring Unit for you.
Zoned options are available in standard 3-, 5-, and 7-zone configurations. All manufactured in a variety of wire diameters, coil counts, unit heights, and a full complement of bedding sizes.
Environmentally Friendly Pocket Spring Unit
As part of our continuing strive to reduce our carbon footprint we are delighted to offer our newest cutting edge spring system, manufactured by Spinks Springs. The NatureCoil pocket spring unit is 100% plant sourced and weldable, made from natural weldable materials.
The springs help distribute your bodyweight between a greater number of springs and so reduce the build-up of pressure points.
Bases
Perfecting our base designs over the years we have created a range of bases that are both supportive and built to last. All our bases can be built to any height and can come with a range of storage options including drawers and ottomans. All our bases have been designed to suit all mattress types.
Firm Top Divan Base
Made from pine and wrapped in board to create a strong and supportive base.
Sprung Top Divan Base
The edge to edge sprung base helps to extend the life of your mattress and give you a more comfortable softer sleep. Available with Bonnell or Pocket Springs.
Divan Slatted Base
Manufactured using MFC (available in a variety of colours) our slatted sprung bases offer the same benefits of a sprung base whilst adding style to any bedroom.
Fixed/Styled Leg
The fixed/styled leg is ideal for anyone who requires space underneath their bed. Used in care homes as the space under the bed allows for a hoist to be moved into situ.
Adjustable Divan Base
With a similar designto the Slatted Base the Adjustable Divan Base is manufactured using MFC (available in a variety of colours) with a variety of adjustable frames to choose from.
All the wood in our bases is FSC certified and is purchased from repuitable suppliers.
